September 20, 2008 - Two sisters marry two brothers. When Monika and Sandra’s dad met Janis and Ivars while on a fishing trip he knew that he had met his daughters’ future husbands. After a bit of matchmaking on his part his wish came true. They were married at Sandra’s home in Whitefish, surrounded by many friends and family celebrating in the Latvian tradition for days! The overturned fishing boat made a perfect prop for the fishermen and their future wives. Each couple had their portraits taken in the same location but traded out who was in the center of the haystack! Monika asked her daughter to walk her down the aisle and sing during the ceremony and Sandra was escorted by her dad. A Latvian priest and long time friend performed the ceremony. During the cocktail hour the most delicious macaroni and cheese was served in martini glasses. Cigars with personalized matches were available during the reception as were some beautiful passed hors d’oeuvres.
